doctor preceding this discovery are. >> dr. david cohen expected to make a full recovery from his shooting and police still releasing more information in the hours following all of this chaos today. there is still some detectives here at the hospital and police say they are working on learning more about this shooter. back to you. thousands of people were working inside the hospital when the first shot was fired. in an exclusive interview, jessica kartalija spoke with one of those witnesses. jessica? >> reporter: that witness did not want to go on camera but was there when shots were fired. just after 11:00 this morning, this witness was meeting with a doctor then this. >> i was up on the eighth floor and i hear a bang. then i saw either a nurse or a resident female come running around the corner saying, he shot the doctor. he shot the doctor. so i went down probably about 10 yards and made a left. electricity doctor was on the floor in the hallway. >> reporter: the witness who asked that we not use his name said they searched franticcally for a gurney. >> they brought the crash c

surgery proved unsuccessful. during a conversation with a surgeon, dr. david cohen at that point, he became overcome with emotion and pulled out a hand gun and shot the doctor in the abdomen and barricaded himself and his mother in his mother's room and shot his mother and then killed himself. his mother was confined to the bed. after about three hours they were able to get into the room. they found jean davis of course dead as well as paul pardon us. -- par duss. they were able to get the situation under control. john hopkins was under lockdown for quite sometime. several areas of the building were evacuated and coming up in our next half-hour we'll hear from pardus' half brother who talks about coping with the death of his half brother and now the death of his mother. >> the brother of gunman paul pardus spoke to us about what may have driven his brother to open fire inside johns hopkins hospital. he lives in arlington. his mother was from virginia, which is where we found another son of hers. >> he clutches on old photo of his mother tonight, walking around the family farm in reco

identity of the doctor. 35-year-old dr. david cohen. has done a lot of his training at johns hopkins. he is an assistant professor of orthopedic surgery. he went to medical school at the university of rochester. he did his residency at hopkins in orthopedic surgery, fellowship in reconstructive surgery at hopkins. he is also part of something called the spine outcomes research center. there are only five doctors in this division. that's why dr. cohen's name was known so quickly around hopkins hospital today because it's a very small group and practice. again, dr. cohen shall the one having that conversation with warren davis, the son of the patient. he was shot today, collapsed in the hallway and we'll have much more on dr. david cohen, orthopedic surgeon who performed that final surgery and involved in the surgery today. >>> we do know the identity of the doctor now, the identity of the suspect is now no longer said to be warren davis. they are now trying to determine exactly who that is. >>> here is the latest on the shooting. the suspect was upset about his mother's health. shot a surgeo
